According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the two sides have agreed to change the league’s Collective Bargaining Agreement

to allow for verbal agreements to become signed contracts in a shorter period of time than ever before.

Per Wojnarowski’s report, the moratorium period will be shortened from 11 days to five days meaning that free agents will be able to sign contracts as early as July 6th as opposed to the July 11th date that the CBA originally called for.

This decision after the saga we saw unfold this past summer when DeAndre Jordan verbally agreed to join with the Dallas Mavericks before changing course in the final hours of the moratorium period and re-signing with the Los Angeles Clippers.
