Broncos Sign Russell Okung To Five Year Contract

Denver Broncos Carolina Panthers

ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports the Broncos are finalizing a five-year contract with left tackle Russell Okung. It’s worth around $10.6 million per season, Anderson says, for a total value of roughly $53 million. The two sides have agreed to terms, the Oklahoma State product told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Okung, who’s representing himself in free agency, spent his first six seasons as a pro in Seattle. He started 72 games and made the Pro Bowl in 2012.

Denver will likely move on from Ryan Clady. The former first-round draft pick, who’s been with the franchise since 2008, has a cap number of $10.1 million in 2016. Broncos plan to trade Clady, a four-time Pro Bowler who is 29 years old. He should have a few productive years left so long as he can stay healthy. He’s missed 30 regular-season games since 2013.
